What is ISRSF?

The Indonesian Scholarship and Research Support Foundation (ISRSF) based in Jakarta provides major scholarships to establish a new and dynamic group of world-class Indonesian researchers and academics. The foundation also provides grants for innovative research, knowledge creation, and symposia on important societal issues. The goal is to contribute to Indonesian higher education and policy through active engagement in global debates in the social sciences and public policy. Toward this end, ISRSF launched the Arryman Scholars Initiative in 2012 to recruit and train talented young students for MSc-PhDs in these fields. Phase I of the Arryman program has supported over twenty doctoral students at Northwestern University (USA) in political science, sociology, history, and anthropology. The Arryman program is also recruiting students for MSc-PhDs in economics and policy at SOAS University of London. Phase II of the initiative follows up these educational opportunities with high-quality institutional placement upon returning to Indonesia. In cooperation with top university partners, the foundation has created a network of Institutes for Advanced Research in Indonesia known as the IFAR Consortium. These institutes are designed to ensure that the Arryman Scholars and their IFAR colleagues can thrive as publishing researchers and educators, and that their work can be impactful in Indonesia and beyond.
