Dr. Gde Dwitya Arief Metera

  • Gde Dwitya holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Northwestern University, where he also completed his postdoctoral research. His fields of expertise are Comparative Politics and Political Theory. His dissertation is entitled: “Coercion in Search of Legitimacy: The Secular State, Religious Politics, and Religious Coercion in Indonesia under New Order, 1967-1998”. Dr Gde was a research fellow at Equality Development and Globalization Studies (EDGS) at Northwestern University and is doing academic activities at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
  • Gde, now as a Researcher, IFAR and Lecturer, Department of Political Science Faculty of Social Sciences at International Islamic University Indonesia (UIII).
  • He has served as a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the International Islamic University Indonesia (UIII) and is also a Visiting Lecturer at Universitas Gadjah Mada in their American Studies Program.
  • His academic work includes multiple articles, chapters, and research papers focused on political and religious dynamics in Indonesia. He has presented his work at various national and international conferences and has won several grants and fellowships, including a COMPOSE-UIII Writing Fellowship and an Arryman Scholarship from ISRSF.
  • Gde Dwitya has teaching experience at multiple institutions, most recently conducting a Dissertation Writing Workshop at Universitas Gadjah Mada. He also has experience as a fieldwork research assistant, a freelance correspondent for The Jakarta Globe, and an English instructor at Wisma Bahasa Yogyakarta.
